Chrysler sales up 20%: Best July since '07, USA Today, Aug. 3
Chrysler Group reported sales up 20 percent, a 16th month of
year-over-year sales gains, led by a 46 percent gain in Jeepî sales
compared with last July, USA Today said. Jeep was the crown jewel,
with a record month for Wrangler (14,355 sold, up 43 percent) and
gains by all five Jeep brand models, the paper said. The paper said
it continues to be amazed by gains for the redone all-new 2011 Jeep
Compass, up 240 percent for the least Jeep-like Jeep. The new Grand
Cherokee was up 76 percent, the article said. Redone and renamed
Chrysler 200 midsize sedan was up 111 percent over sales of the
former Sebring last July, the article said. The new Fiat 500 launch
also continues to progress, with July sales of 3,038, up 68 percent
from June, the paper said. "In a market that remains tougher than a
cheap steak, we were able to produce our highest retail sales in more
than three years," said Reid Bigland, head of U.S. sales, as well as
CEO of the Dodge brand.

2011 Ram 1500 the best full-size pickup

The rankings are based on an in-depth analysis by U.S. News editors of all published vehicle ratings, reviews and test drives.

on the value equation. To the naked eye, you're not giving away any
features or capability by going with the Dodge, and in some areas you
might even find the Journey more practical in terms of special
storage built-in all over the vehicle.
Editor Wes Raynal: Wow, this Journey is a heck of an improvement
inside. This is much better with good materials, much better fits and
a third row for emergencies. It's a much more refined driver now and
feels better planted. This is definitely in the running for my
most-improved award.
Autoweek.com Editor Dale Jewett: I have to admit to being surprised
by the level of comfort in this SUV. Every penny spent on upgrading
the interior trim was worth it. On surface streets and freeways the
ride of this Journey strikes a nice balance between comfort and
control.

underhood. The cabin has nicer plastics and a better feel all-around.
It's comfortable, well-laid out and displays color, easy-to-read
gauges. Seems like a great environment for families.

lower costs post-bankruptcy and favorable currency valuations now
give the company a couple-thousand-dollar price advantage over

For the first time in more than five years, ChryslerâÃÂÃÂs U.S. monthly sales total tops that of industry giant Toyota.
Chrysler recorded 114,860 deliveries in May, an 18.9% boost from like-2010, compared with ToyotaâÃÂÃÂs 108,387 âÃÂàa 27.9% plunge,
according to WardâÃÂÃÂs data, which is adjusted for selling days.

There were 24 selling days last month, compared with 26 in May 2010.
The last time Chrysler beat Toyota was Feburary 2006, according to WardâÃÂÃÂs.
ToyotaâÃÂÃÂs nosedive is linked to inventory woes caused by the March 11 earthquake and tsunami that paralyzed Japan.
The pentastar companyâÃÂÃÂs jump occurred even though its Dodge car lineup and Chrysler-brand light trucks suffered sales declines of
17.4% and 49.8%, according to WardâÃÂÃÂs.
But every Jeep nameplate still in production recorded double-digit increases, at minimum. Sales of the upgraded Compass C-segment
cross/utility vehicle soared 108%, a mark exceeded only by the 216.5% surge of the brand-flagship Grand Cherokee.
Jeep sales totaled 35,573 for a 67.9% hike from like-2010.

For the first time in more than five years, ChryslerâÃÂÃÂs U.S. monthly sales total tops that of industry giant Toyota.
Chrysler recorded 114,860 deliveries in May, an 18.9% boost from like-2010, compared with ToyotaâÃÂÃÂs 108,387 âÃÂàa 27.9% plunge,
according to WardâÃÂÃÂs data, which is adjusted for selling days.

There were 24 selling days last month, compared with 26 in May 2010.
The last time Chrysler beat Toyota was Feburary 2006, according to WardâÃÂÃÂs.
ToyotaâÃÂÃÂs nosedive is linked to inventory woes caused by the March 11 earthquake and tsunami that paralyzed Japan.
The pentastar companyâÃÂÃÂs jump occurred even though its Dodge car lineup and Chrysler-brand light trucks suffered sales declines of
17.4% and 49.8%, according to WardâÃÂÃÂs.
But every Jeep nameplate still in production recorded double-digit increases, at minimum. Sales of the upgraded Compass C-segment
cross/utility vehicle soared 108%, a mark exceeded only by the 216.5% surge of the brand-flagship Grand Cherokee.
Jeep sales totaled 35,573 for a 67.9% hike from like-2010.

Showing the power of its fresh-ened lineup, Chrysler Group reported its best May sales since 2008, USA Today reported.
The Wall Street Journal said that Chrysler Groupâs U.S. sales rose 10 percent in May on higher truck vol-ume and robust growth at the Jeep® brand. It was the 14th con-secutive month Chrysler re-ported overall growth from prior-year levels. So far this year, Chryslerâs sales have climbed 20 percent from the like period a year earlier, the Wall Street Journal said.

Chrysler Group is making a comeback, again, according to a column by Paul Ingrassia, deputy editor-in-chief of Reu-ters.
âPeople have been underes-timating (Sergio) Marchionne for years, and it has always been a bad bet,â Ingrassia wrote. The editorial also said that Marchionne, CEO of Chrysler Group and Fiat, has done âeverything rightâ with the two companies so far.
A Detroit News editorial also gave âkudosâ to Chrysler Group for its payback to the U.S. and Canadian governments six years ahead of schedule. The story said the loan repayment eliminates the stigma of being âbeholden to the feds.â
A Courier-Journal editorial said Chryslerâs edgy âImported from Detroitâ tagline be the slo-gan that applies to an automo-tive industry making a come-back from the Great Recession and that Chrysler could be the âposter childâ for that come-back.
âAmericans should take pride that their tax dollars paid off in such a big way, and worked to benefit so many of their fellow citizens and one of the nation's signature industries,â the Couri-er-Journal said.

Chrysler Group LLC today reported U.S. sales of 115,363, a 10 percent
increase compared with sales in May 2010 (104,819 units), and the best
May sales since 2008.Chrysler Groupâs all-new or significantly-refreshed 2011 models continue to drive monthly sales gains. The new 2011 Chrysler 200 mid-size sedan, the all-new 2011 Dodge Durango SUV, the all-new 2011 Jeep Grand Cherokee and new Jeep Compass, and the new 2012 Fiat 500 all significantly contributed to Chrysler Groupâs 10 percent sales increase in May.
Sales of the Chrysler 200 were up 154 percent in May, compared to the modelâs previous generation. In May, the Chrysler brand was named âTop Popular Brandâ in AutoPacificâs 15th annual Vehicle Satisfaction Awards, and the new 2011 Chrysler Town & Country took the top spot in the âMinivanâ category. AutoPacificâs Vehicle Satisfaction Award is an industry benchmark for measuring how satisfied an owner is with his or her new vehicle.
All Jeep brand models posted year-over-year sales gains in May, led by the Jeep Grand Cherokeeâs 192 percent sales increase. The Grand Cherokee won AutoPacificâs Vehicle Satisfaction Award in the âPremium Mid-size SUVâ category. Sales of the new Jeep Compass, now with Trail Rated® 4x4 capability, were up 92 percent in May compared with the same month a year ago.

The Jeep and Ram Truck brands each posted year-over-year sales gains in May. The Jeep brandâs 55 percent increase was the largest of the Chrysler Group brands.
Chrysler Group finished the month with a 65-day supply of inventory (311,453 units). U.S. industry sales figures for May are projected at an estimated 12.0 SAAR.
May 2011 U.S. Sales Highlights by Brand
Jeep® Brand
The Jeep brand posted a 55 percent sales increase in May. All five Jeep brand models contributed to the increase by posting year-over-year sales gains. The all-new 2011 Jeep Grand Cherokee posted a 192 percent sales increase in May, compared with the same month in 2010. It was the largest year-over-year sales gain of any Chrysler Group model.
Accolades continue to mount for the Jeep brandâs premium SUV as the 2011 Jeep Grand Cherokee received the highest spot in vehicle satisfaction for the âPremium Mid-size SUVâ category in AutoPacificâs 15th annual Vehicle Satisfaction Awards. The Grand Cherokee has captured 30 awards since introduction last summer, including the prestigious Wardâs â10 Best Interiorsâ award.
The new Jeep Compass posted a 92 percent sales increase in May versus last year, and is up 12 percent compared with sales during the previous month of April. The new Compass offers the Jeep Freedom Drive II® Off-Road package. This available four-wheel-drive system delivers Jeep Trail Rated® capability for the first time in Compass form.
The Jeep brand announced in May that four-time Grammy award winning artist Lenny Kravitz will be featured in the national broadcast advertising campaign for the 2011 Jeep Wrangler. Kravitz is a long-time Wrangler owner.
Ram Truck Brand
The Ram Truck brand posted a 13 percent sales increase in May. Ram pickup truck sales were up 16 percent, compared with the same month in 2010. Both the Light Duty and Heavy Duty pickup trucks, along with the Chassis Cab, saw year-over-year sales gains. This was the brandâs 13th consecutive month of year-over-year sales gains.
In May, the Ram Truck brand introduced the Ram âLong-Haulerâ Concept Truck, a vehicle designed for hauling, range and comfort. On display at select events across the country, the Ram Long-Hauler is based on a Class 5 Ram 5500 Chassis Cab, and is designed to tow multiple or heavy trailers and drive long distances. Designers upped the range between refueling stops with a mid-ship fuel tank. Combined with a second frame-mounted tank and a third, optional, bed-mounted auxiliary tank, total fuel capacity is 170 gallons.
Also in May, Chrysler Group, working in partnership with the U.S. Department of Energy, delivered the first of a demonstration fleet of Ram 1500 plug-in hybrid electric (PHEV) pickup trucks to municipal officials in Yuma, Ariz. The 10 PHEV Ram 1500 pickups are part of a national demonstration fleet of 140 vehicles that will be used during the next three years to evaluate customer usage, drive cycles, charging, thermal management, fuel economy, emissions and impact on the regionâs electric grid.
Dodge Brand
Sales of the 2011 Dodge Nitro mid-size sport utility continued its string of year-over-year sales gains with a 7 percent increase compared with May a year ago. The Dodge Caravan was the brandâs volume leader in May. Sales of the minivan were up 7 percent compared with sales in the previous month of April 2011.
The totally revamped 2011 Dodge Journey was the proud winner of the 2011 âFamily Car of Texasâ in May. The Texas Auto Writers Association (TAWA) bestowed the honor after more than 50 journalists had the chance to get behind the wheel and drive the Journey at the groupâs annual Spring Roundup at the Texas Motor Speedway in Fort Worth. The Journey received a major overhaul with a completely redesigned and retuned suspension, the new 3.6-liter Pentastar V-6 engine that delivers 283 hp and 260 lb.-ft. of torque, along with excellent fuel economy of up to 25 miles per gallon on the highway, and a gorgeous new interior.

Times said. Chrysler said 60% of its sales in the quarter came from
its revamped lineup, including the Jeep Grand Cherokee, the report
said. Chrysler reiterated its full-year outlook, saying it expected
to post revenue of $55 billion and net income of $200 million to $500
million, the Times said.
‘Fast Five’ Dodge Charger is product placement of the year,

Long-Hauler concept truck and at a whopping 24 feet (about 7.3
meters) long they are probably right, Autoevolution.com said. This
bad-boy is so big you could take a whole cow in the back to market
and come back with a flock of sheep, the website said. Based on a
Class 5 Ram 5500 Chassis Cab, the interior was spruced up using
several options such as a DVD player with overhead screen for rear
seat passengers and a rear center console that includes a
refrigerator, cup holders and tray tables, the report said. The Ram

months “to gauge public opinion” for a possible production version,

Francisco Chronicle said. Each surface of this latest Grand Cherokee

said. The styling is now much more contemporary and displays a
somewhat European flair, but without having forsaken Jeep®’s classic
design cues, the review said. The interior uses rich materials and
stylish appointments while providing more space for both passengers
and cargo, the article said. Driving this Grand Cherokee proved to be
an exhilarating experience; the on-road characteristics from
acceleration, through braking, ride quality and handling attributes
were admirable, and the off-road performance was even more
impressive, the paper said. This 2011 model Jeep Grand Cherokee is by
far the best Grand Cherokee ever, the Chronicle said, and definitely
deserving of Jeep’s flagship status, the review said.
Dodge makes a good thing better; Grand Caravan packs on value,

perception of the reputation of corporate America is on the rise.
Overall corporate reputation is experiencing rehabilitation as the
American public gives high marks overall to corporate America,
specific industries, and the largest number of individual companies
in a dozen years, according to 2011 Harris Interactive RQ Study,
which measures the reputations of the 60 most visible companies in
the U.S. The auto industry had a significant increase in positive
perceptions, jumping 15 points from 2010, the largest year over year
gain by any industry in the study's 12-year history. All three
domestic auto companies demonstrate positive momentum compared with
2010 and were among the 10 most improved companies in the study. Ford
is the second highest ranked car company, following Honda. Toyota
ranks third among automakers. GM and Chrysler achieved the 3rd and
4th highest gains in 2011.

o The 2011 Dodge Ram 1500 Laramie 4x4 Crew Cab is like a Clydesdale
horse in a Savile Row suit, the Toronto Star said. Hoist yourself
into the beige/dark brown cabin of the Laramie Crew Cab and you'd be
forgiven for thinking Lexus has gotten into the pickup business, the
Star said. "I'd call this the nicest truck interior of the Big
Three," the Star's reviewer said. On the road, the civility of this
Ram surprised; the ride is smooth and quiet, and there is no slop in
the suspension or steering, the review said. In the case of this
high-end Dodge, capability is paired with cosseting luxury at a
reasonable price, the review said.

Long-Hauler concept truck and at a whopping 24 feet (about 7.3
meters) long they are probably right, Autoevolution.com said. This
bad-boy is so big you could take a whole cow in the back to market
and come back with a flock of sheep, the website said. Based on a
Class 5 Ram 5500 Chassis Cab, the interior was spruced up using
several options such as a DVD player with overhead screen for rear
seat passengers and a rear center console that includes a
refrigerator, cup holders and tray tables, the report said. The Ram
Long-Hauler will be shown across the country over the next eight
months “to gauge public opinion” for a possible production version,

Francisco Chronicle said. Each surface of this latest Grand Cherokee
is fresh and focuses on aerodynamic improvement with design fluidity,

said. The styling is now much more contemporary and displays a
somewhat European flair, but without having forsaken Jeep®’s classic
design cues, the review said. The interior uses rich materials and
stylish appointments while providing more space for both passengers
and cargo, the article said. Driving this Grand Cherokee proved to be
an exhilarating experience; the on-road characteristics from
acceleration, through braking, ride quality and handling attributes
were admirable, and the off-road performance was even more
impressive, the paper said. This 2011 model Jeep Grand Cherokee is by
far the best Grand Cherokee ever, the Chronicle said, and definitely

Overall corporate reputation is experiencing rehabilitation as the
American public gives high marks overall to corporate America,
specific industries, and the largest number of individual companies
in a dozen years, according to 2011 Harris Interactive RQ Study,
which measures the reputations of the 60 most visible companies in
the U.S. The auto industry had a significant increase in positive
perceptions, jumping 15 points from 2010, the largest year over year
gain by any industry in the study's 12-year history. All three
domestic auto companies demonstrate positive momentum compared with
2010 and were among the 10 most improved companies in the study. Ford
is the second highest ranked car company, following Honda. Toyota

Awe-inspiring powertrain Powering the 2012 Jeep Grand Cherokee SRT8 is Chrysler Group’s all-new 6.4-liter HEMI® V-8 with Fuel Saver Technology that delivers an estimated 465 horsepower and 465 lb.-ft. of torque – an improvement of 45 horsepower and 45 lb.-ft. torque over the 6.1-liter HEMI V-8 it replaces. An active intake manifold and high-lift camshaft with cam phasing delivers maximum low-end torque while optimizing high-end power across a wider and improved rpm band. Specifically, 90-percent of peak torque is available between 2,800 and 6,000 rpm, allowing for inspired standing starts and improved straight-line performance. The standard Jeep Quadra-Trac active on-demand four-wheel-drive transfer case uses input from a variety of sensors in order to determine tire slip at the earliest possible moment and take corrective action. The system uses Throttle Anticipate to sense quick movement in the throttle from a stop and maximizes traction before slippage occurs. When tire slippage is detected, the Jeep 4x4 system can transfer up to 100 percent of available torque to one rear wheel. The transfer case also enhances handling by proportioning torque between the front and rear axles to maintain the driver’s intended path. The new Grand Cherokee SRT8 also features an Electronic Limited Slip Differential that eliminates rear wheel slip and improves handling. Awe-inspiring powertrain Powering the 2012 Jeep Grand Cherokee SRT8 is Chrysler Group’s all-new 6.4-liter HEMI® V-8 with Fuel Saver Technology that delivers an estimated 465 horsepower and 465 lb.-ft. of torque – an improvement of 45 horsepower and 45 lb.-ft. torque over the 6.1-liter HEMI V-8 it replaces. An active intake manifold and high-lift camshaft with cam phasing delivers maximum low-end torque while optimizing high-end power across a wider and improved rpm band. Specifically, 90-percent of peak torque is available between 2,800 and 6,000 rpm, allowing for inspired standing starts and improved straight-line performance. The standard Jeep Quadra-Trac active on-demand four-wheel-drive transfer case uses input from a variety of sensors in order to determine tire slip at the earliest possible moment and take corrective action. The system uses Throttle Anticipate to sense quick movement in the throttle from a stop and maximizes traction before slippage occurs. When tire slippage is detected, the Jeep 4x4 system can transfer up to 100 percent of available torque to one rear wheel. The transfer case also enhances handling by proportioning torque between the front and rear axles to maintain the driver’s intended path. The new Grand Cherokee SRT8 also features an Electronic Limited Slip Differential that eliminates rear wheel slip and improves handling. Paying tribute to the well-known and rugged western desert Mojave Trail, Jeep Wrangler Mojave features a unique desert theme inside and out, and an aggressive wheel and tire package to tackle the toughest terrain. “The Mojave Trail is known for expeditions, exploration and a rugged environment that features elevation, sand, canyons, a river crossing and hill climbs – the perfect landscape for the Jeep Wrangler,” said Mike Manley, President and CEO — Jeep Brand, Chrysler Group LLC. “By creating the Jeep Wrangler Mojave, we are able to deliver another specialized vehicle that Jeep enthusiasts will love, while drawing new customers into Jeep showrooms.” Spanning 138 miles, the Mojave Trail begins near Laughlin, Nev., and travels to Afton Canyon near Barstow, Calif. Racer) has made history at yet another storied road course.
Renowned Dodge road racer Kuno Wittmer piloted a street legal 2010 Dodge Viper ACR to a record lap of 1:59.995 at Miller Motorsports Park in Tooele, Utah, on Monday, April 11, breaking the 2-minute mark for the first time in a production car on the 3.048-mile Outer Course configuration. The Viper ACR shattered the previous production car lap record of 2:03.86, held by Jan Magnussen in a Chevrolet Corvette ZR1 by close to 4 full seconds.
“It’s amazing to come to this world-class track and shatter the production car lap record by almost 4 seconds,” said Bryan Viger, Head of Dodge Motorsports. “We brought our street-legal Viper ACR to see what Kuno could do behind the wheel, and on his second lap he’d already gone faster than the single lap record.”
A veteran behind the wheel of the Viper on and off the track, Wittmer continues to be impressed by the performance of the Dodge Viper ACR. “Wow, what an awesome supercar!” the Montreal native said after exiting the car. “The Viper ACR is such a blast to drive at the limit, and I can honestly say that I didn’t leave an inch out there on the track and was barely braking in the corners.”
This latest achievement joins a growing list of track records for the Dodge Viper ACR. In November 2009, SRT vehicle dynamics engineer Chris Winkler lapped the 2.238-mile, Laguna Seca raceway in 1:33.92, beating the previous record by 1.1 seconds. Dutch driver Tom Coronel set a 7:22.1 production car record at the 12.9-mile Nurburgring Nordschleife in August 2008.

The Dodge Viper ACR remains the ultimate purpose-built, street-legal track car since its introduction in 2008.
Powered by the venerable 8.4-liter, V-10 engine with 600 horsepower and 560 lb.-ft. of torque, the Dodge Viper ACR continues to offer extreme performance, including 0-60 mph acceleration in less than 4 seconds, quarter-mile time in the mid 11-second range and 0-100-0 mph in 11 seconds flat.
The four-wheel independent suspension features high-performance aluminum control arms and knuckles, KW suspension with two-way adjustable competition coil-over shock absorbers with remote reservoirs.
The aerodynamic package features a carbon fiber “fanged” splitter in front and adjustable carbon-fiber wing with seven-position stanchions that allow up to an amazing 1,000 lbs. of downforce at 150 mph. Lightweight wheels, two-piece slotted StopTech brake rotors and Michelin PS Cup tires round out the ACR package.
For the 2010 model year, the Dodge Viper ACR received a shorter fifth gear ratio (changing from 0.74 to 0.80) for improved high-speed acceleration and higher straightaway speeds. A new short-throw shifter also came in 2010 models for enhanced driver experience and better performance. The rear wing profile and end plates were also redesigned to further optimize the vehicle aerodynamics and improve rear yaw downforce. These changes resulted in an increase in top speed of 4 mph (to 184 mph).

light maintenance, including oil changes and tire rotations. Today,
Chrysler Group’s Mopar division announced a strategic agreement with
Magneti Marelli and Shell Lubricants that will give its dealership network
the ability to fully service competitive vehicles.
“After introducing a number of initiatives to improve service for our
customers, including brand-specific customer-care lines, extended service
hours during weekdays and weekends and a push for Mopar Express Lanes,
taking care of owners with competitive vehicles is the next frontier,” said
Pietro Gorlier, President and CEO of Mopar, Chrysler Group’s service, parts
and customer-care brand. “For customers with competitive vehicles, Mopar’s
agreement with Magneti Marelli and Shell Lubricants effectively creates
one-stop service shops at our Chrysler Group dealerships. And with the
addition of 3,000 quality-tested parts, our dealership network will now
have the ability to fully service customers who drive into our service
lanes with competitive vehicles.

Saturday Hours and Express Lane Service: Mopar Continues Push to Further
Improve Customer Service and Convenience at Chrysler Group Dealerships
With a proud 74-year heritage of developing high-quality performance parts
and accessories, Mopar is expanding the brand and building on that
reputation by applying that same passion to create a high-performance
customer experience.
The agreement with Magneti Marelli and Shell Lubricants is the latest
example of how Chrysler Group, through its Mopar division, is aggressively
moving to further improve customer service and convenience while growing
its service business.
Currently 72 percent of Chrysler Group’s 2,311 dealers now offer Saturday
service hours. Mopar is planning to improve this number to 80 percent by
the end of this year. Dealers who have made the move to Saturday service
hours have increased their overall service business by 20 percent.
To support the move to Saturday-service hours, Mopar has extended its
technical-support dealer call- center hours to 16 hours Monday through
Friday (8 a.m. to midnight) and now Saturday as well (9 a.m. – 6 p.m.).
Beginning in January of this year, Mopar started providing Saturday service
at its parts distribution centers. For customers, Mopar established
extended hours for the company’s brand-specific customer-care telephone
lines from just weekdays (8 a.m. to 8 p.m.) to Saturdays as well (9 a.m. to
5 p.m. Eastern). In addition, the company announced today that it will now
offer Sunday customer service from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Eastern, with the
exception of national holidays.
Regarding Mopar Express Lane service, currently 600 dealers, or 26 percent
of the Chrysler Group dealer network, now offer express service. Mopar is
planning to improve this number to 80 percent by the end of 2014. Dealers
who add Mopar Express Lane service to their dealerships average a
50-percent increase in their retail service business within the first six
months and double their oil-change business in the first year.
“It’s important to note that competitive vehicles currently make up 25
percent of Mopar Express Lane traffic,” said Gorlier. “Our new relationship
with Magneti Marelli and Shell Lubricants will allow us to further serve
this growing market. Our dealerships will become full-line retail service
and tire centers.”

Saturday Hours and Express Lane Service: Mopar Continues Push to Further
Improve Customer Service and Convenience at Chrysler Group Dealerships
With a proud 74-year heritage of developing high-quality performance parts
and accessories, Mopar is expanding the brand and building on that
reputation by applying that same passion to create a high-performance
customer experience.
The agreement with Magneti Marelli and Shell Lubricants is the latest
example of how Chrysler Group, through its Mopar division, is aggressively
moving to further improve customer service and convenience while growing
its service business.
Currently 72 percent of Chrysler Group’s 2,311 dealers now offer Saturday
service hours. Mopar is planning to improve this number to 80 percent by
the end of this year. Dealers who have made the move to Saturday service
hours have increased their overall service business by 20 percent.
To support the move to Saturday-service hours, Mopar has extended its
technical-support dealer call- center hours to 16 hours Monday through
Friday (8 a.m. to midnight) and now Saturday as well (9 a.m. – 6 p.m.).
Beginning in January of this year, Mopar started providing Saturday service
at its parts distribution centers. For customers, Mopar established
extended hours for the company’s brand-specific customer-care telephone
lines from just weekdays (8 a.m. to 8 p.m.) to Saturdays as well (9 a.m. to
5 p.m. Eastern). In addition, the company announced today that it will now
offer Sunday customer service from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Eastern, with the
exception of national holidays.
Regarding Mopar Express Lane service, currently 600 dealers, or 26 percent
of the Chrysler Group dealer network, now offer express service. Mopar is
planning to improve this number to 80 percent by the end of 2014. Dealers
who add Mopar Express Lane service to their dealerships average a
50-percent increase in their retail service business within the first six
months and double their oil-change business in the first year.
“It’s important to note that competitive vehicles currently make up 25
percent of Mopar Express Lane traffic,” said Gorlier. “Our new relationship
with Magneti Marelli and Shell Lubricants will allow us to further serve
this growing market. Our dealerships will become full-line retail service
and tire centers.”

The 2011 Jeep Grand Cherokee Overland Summit features an all-new two-gauge instrument cluster that is surrounded by satin silver and chrome, and features LED back-lighting, which makes it easier to read at night. A new three-spoke heated steering wheel with Black Olive burl wood accent features ergonomically located steering-wheel mounted control functions placed on the front and back of the spokes.
Attention to detail, including how controls and surfaces should feel were benchmarked against the world’s best. The center stack neatly houses Jeep Grand Cherokee’s climate controls, radio and an electronic switch bank. Even the HVAC outlet wheels have a sensual feeling. Located on the bottom of the center stack is a covered bin lined with a rubber mat that is illuminated when opened and perfect for tucking away a cellular phone or other hand-held devices. Surrounding passengers with comfort and craftsmanship, Dodge Charger Rallye Plus features soft-to-touch cast-skin upper instrument and door panels with a premium dual gloss finish. The cast-skin panels incorporate a soft backing — a notable upgrade from more common painted surfacing — so when the driver or passengers touch or lean against it, it is soft, while delivering the high-levels of perceived quality expected from a world-class performance sedan. Dimensional graining in the instrument panel and upper door surfaces enables an upscale dual-gloss appearance.
Areas, including the seats, lower-instrument panel, interior-door scallops and door “islands,” are coordinated for a consistent color design and are available in four distinct color combinations — including premium materials in Black with Tan and Black with Radar Red — to provide 2011 Dodge Charger Rallye Plus owners’ the opportunity to personalize their car. In addition, Dodge Charger Rallye Plus features significantly upgraded five passenger seating, including 12-way power driver and passenger heated-front seats (including four-way lumbar), and 60/40-split-fold heated-rear seats wrapped in soft Nappa leather.
No detail on the 2011 Dodge Charger was overlooked. The heated/cooled and front cupholder features rubberized retention-fingers can be adjusted to prevent beverages from tipping. For a clean design aesthetic, a tambour door slides into place when the cupholders are not being used. Even the A-, B- and C-pillars are wrapped in fabric — an execution once seen only on premium import E-segment sedans.
Oversized door pockets feature grained surfacing on all four doors and integrate bottle holders. An oversized illuminated glovebox with dampened hinges features velvet-like interior surfacing, center-positioned illumination for even light distribution and even an upper shelf to store the owner’s manual. A cubby bin located in front of the shifter surface also carries a rubberized mat, as well as a 12-volt power outlet.
The substantial amount of storage space in the 2011 Dodge Charger Rallye Plus is not only intuitively designed for optimal use but also tactfully refined. The crafted protein-vinyl wrapped center armrest opens for easy access to the USB port, auxiliary input jack or auxiliary power outlet.
Inside, abundant ambient LED lighting is located in footwells, door-pull cups, overhead console (to light the center console below), door map pockets, front cupholders, armrest-mounted rear cupholders and cubby bin located in front of the center console shifter.
The 2011 Dodge Charger Rallye Plus is available at dealerships now with a MSRP of $29,170 (plus $825 destination).
