2010 Ram Heavy Duty: Motor Trend 2010 Truck of the Year

2010-TOYAThe accolades for the 2010 Ram Heavy Duty Pickup have been piling up since it was introduced. Now, Ram is proud to announce the most prestigious so far: Motor Trend’s 2010 Truck of the Year. Ram Heavy Duty bested two models from Ford as well as one from Toyota.
Masterfully Done

The 2010 Ram Heavy Duty Pickup has raised the benchmark for the heavy duty pickup. Ram Heavy Duty has long been respected for its power and capability virtues. As the Motor Trend award demonstrates, this new 2010 design boasts exceptional fit and finish and outstanding interior design and materials, along with a long list of high-value standard and optional amenities.
Ram HD Superiority

Motor Trend has heaped praise on the 2010 Ram Heavy Duty.

“The Ram Heavy Duty is the first to market, and it's already ahead of the game. When Ford and GM's all-new heavy-dutys come out, both new diesel engines are going to require urea injection to meet emissions requirements that take effect January 2010. The Ram Heavy Duty's Cummins® inline-six Turbo Diesel, which puts out an impressive 350 horsepower and 650 pound-feet of torque, met those requirements — without urea — over a year ago.”

“Much of what is so impressive about the heavy-duty Ram is not only how easily it does all the tasks it's built for, but also how easy it is on the driver.”

“There were rave reviews for the Cummins engine, which not only provides gobs of power, but is surprisingly quiet doing it.”

“They (Rams) did everything asked of them without effort, and drove like much smaller trucks than they are.”

“I never thought I'd tow a trailer as long or as heavy as this 28-foot Chaparral, but a minute into the climb up Templin Highway, it was really no big deal. All the towing gizmos made it easy, and of course, so did the monster motor."

“Judges noted that the interior materials and design are much nicer than in the past and that improvement makes this cabin the best in its class. The strategically added sound deadening makes it incredibly quiet too. You basically have to stand outside the truck while it's running, to hear the diesel.”

“The Ram is quieter and more comfortable and people-friendly than before without sacrificing its considerable capability. Several configurations even have lower MSRPs than they did in 2009.”

“The Ram Heavy Duty is so good, it's caused the other manufacturers to change their plans. So good that, when it came time to vote, we unanimously chose it as this year's Truck of the Year.”
The Other Nominees

Ram Heavy Duty won over three worthy competitors:
Ford F-150 SVT Raptor

Motor Trend impressions: “The Raptor is a stripped interior short of a full-blown desert race truck, one that will tackle just about anything the trail can throw at it. For the off-road enthusiast, it's a dream come true …” “This thing drives like Jerome Bettis: big, heavy, yet changes directions with ease and keeps them wheels churnin'. Surprisingly good out on the twisties…”
Ford Transit Connect

Motor Trend impressions: “This van has a load floor the length of a standard pickup bed and far more vertical space than any truck with a camper shell you'll ever see. What's more, its payload capacity blows Ford's other entry, the Raptor, out of the water with the ability to haul 1600 lbs.” “…it's a rolling toolbox.”
Toyota Tundra Work Truck

Motor Trend impressions: “… it became more and more difficult to find a simple, stripped-down model that private contractors and small businesses wouldn't mind banging up. Enter the Tundra Work Truck and its incredibly short build sheet.”

Ram 2500 Power Wagon

Chalk-Up Another One!
Ram 2500 Power Wagon:Four Wheeler Magazine 2010 Pickup Truck of the Year

Based upon a series of grueling on- and off-road tests, the all-new 2010 Ram 2500 Power Wagon was awarded Pickup Truck of the Year by Four Wheeler Magazine.

In addition to the 2010 Ram Power Wagon, this year’s competitors included the Ram 2500 Heavy Duty with a Cummins® diesel, the Ford SVT F-150 Raptor and the Toyota Tundra. To qualify for the competition, a vehicle must have been entirely new or have substantial mechanical revisions from a previous model year.

“The new Power Wagon is quite nearly the best of all worlds,” said Douglas McColloch, Editor – Four Wheeler. “Its tall stance and body-on-frame architecture don’t get in the way of delivering a pleasant and relatively quiet highway ride. Its work-truck ethic is belied by its eight-lug axles and 10,000-pound tow rating. And once off the pavement, deep in the dirt, the Power Wagon can simply go places, and do things, that no other full-size truck on the planet can. Locking differentials, a disconnecting front swaybar, and a 12,000-pound winch delivered straight from the factory will do that for you. All in all, the Power Wagon is a very worthy winner of our Pickup Truck of the Year competition.”

2010 Ram 2500 matches a powerful thrill ride with driving refinements detnews.com The Detroit News: "2010 Ram 2500 matches a powerful thrill ride with driving refinements

Dear Sig. Marchionne:
I realize you're busy between cigarettes trying to save America's third largest carmaker, but we haven't been introduced, and I've been meaning to drop you a note.
A few weeks ago, I got the chance to test drive the new 2010 Ram 2500 Laramie, loaded up with that mega-powerful 6.7-liter Cummins diesel and just about every creature comfort known to the pickup world.
Now, I realize it's been a tough year for Chrysler Group LLC, what with the bankruptcy, a slight sales drop, Michael Jackson's death and more name changes than the man formerly known as Prince -- who is now Prince -- has endured. Chrysler, Dodge and Jeep aside, not everything needs an overhaul.
The all-new heavy-duty Ram, formerly known as Dodge Ram, doesn't need a single bolt screwed with. Just sit back and take the credit.
These trucks make up the best group of heavy-duty pickups ever produced by Chrysler, which took all of the great things about the 2009 Ram 1500 and applied them to the big rigs to make them better.
While much of the company may feel like it is in shambles, Ram's tank is full. (And please, kibosh that commercial. Whenever I hear it on the radio, I have to pull over at the next rest stop.)
Honestly, (and this is just between you and me), the Ram 2500 is an absolute thrill ride. The diesel engine booms with more authority than a Downriver cop, and it's more comfortable than a Bloomfield Hills living room. It is Cass Corridor gritty and Royal Oak refined. Welcome it to the neighborhood.
I"
